1 John 3:7a (New International Version)

7Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray.

Is there someone trying to sabotage you on the journey? Somebody who constantly offers things that you are trying to avoid? That certain skinny friend who says just one won't mess you up? There WILL be people just like that in your life. They cannot be eliminated, not legally anyway.

This verse reminds me that it is my choice whether these people succeed or not. It is ultimately up to me as to whether or not they lead me astray. When these people are offering you things it may be completely innocent. It may also be an intentional attempt to cause you to stumble on the journey. Whatever their motive we are the ones responsible for how we react.

This verse states our necessary response very simply. Do not let it happen. Do not give in. Do not fall for it. Do not be led astray. Take control.

Jesus in you can help you do what you need to do.

Peace and Grace,
Don
